Albert Johnson, Jr. was born and raised in Lawton Oklahoma. He is a product of Cameron University’s ROTC program where he earned his commission as a Field Artillery Second Lieutenant. After graduating Cameron University, Albert completed more than 28 years of service in the US Army, retiring as a Colonel. Highlights of that career include command at the battalion (1-82FA, 1st Cavalry Division) and brigade (1st Infantry Division Artillery) levels, before culminating his career as the Assistant Commandant, Field Artillery School, Fort Sill. Albert joined the Cameron University team in November 2007 as the Vice President for University Advancement, where his responsibilities include fund raising, alumni relations, the Center for Emerging Technology and Entrepreneurial Studies (CETES) and events management.
Mr. Johnson has been an active member in the community since retiring from the Army. He currently serves on the Comanche County Trust Authority, Lawton Fort Sill Working Group, Oklahoma Center for Non-Profits Board of Directors and a representative for Cameron University on the Fires Innovation Science and Technology Accelerator (FISTA) Development Authority.
He has served as Chairman of the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chair of the Southwestern Medical Center Board of Directors and Youth Chair of Leadership Oklahoma. Albert is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma Class XXII.
His undergrad degree from Cameron is in Business Administration and he earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Albert is married to Tammy Saltus Johnson of Lawton, Oklahoma and they have two children and four grandchildren
