Shane Hunt

Dr. C. Shane Hunt is the dynamic new President of Cameron University, bringing a powerful blend of academic leadership, innovation, and community commitment. A proud first-generation college graduate from Oklahoma, he earned his BBA in Marketing (with a minor in History) and MBA from the University of Oklahoma, before completing his PhD in Marketing (with a minor in Management) at Oklahoma State University

Prior to leading Cameron, Dr. Hunt served at Idaho State University as Dean of the College of Business, Michael C. Ruettgers Professor of Marketing, and Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship and Economic Innovation. Under his leadership, ISU’s College of Business achieved a successful AACSB reaccreditation, exceptional fundraising victories—including the university’s largest single scholarship gift and a staggering 1,100% increase in endowed professorships—and major facility upgrades such as the new Global Finance Lab and Sales Excellence Center

Dr. Hunt’s early academic career unfolded at Arkansas State University, where he rose from Assistant Professor to Dean of the College of Business. His tenure there was marked by record-setting fundraising, the expansion of endowed professorships, and another successful AACSB reaccreditation

A nationally recognized educator, Dr. Hunt has received numerous awards, including the National Inspire Integrity Award (National Society of Collegiate Scholars), Distinguished Professor and Teaching Innovation honors, and multiple recognitions as Faculty Member of the Year and Outstanding Partner in Learning

His scholarly contributions include co-authoring multiple marketing textbooks published by McGraw-Hill, used by students worldwide, as well as impactful research appearing in leading journals like the Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management and the Journal of Business Logistics

Dr. Hunt officially stepped into the presidency at Cameron University on June 30, 2025, becoming the institution’s 18th president. His appointment was hailed by Regents as a bold step forward, given his visionary leadership and capacity for community engagement

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Hunt is a devoted husband to his wife Jenifer of 25 years and a proud father to two adult children, Andrew and Sarah. He brings to Cameron a deep-rooted belief in the power of public higher education to transform lives—and he’s ready to lead the Aggie family toward an even brighter future.
